There's something about Rupert Bunny's Femme Lisant that perfectly captures how I've been feeling this February. Usually by now I'm restless and ready for spring, counting the days until longer evenings and warmer weather. But this year feels a little different. I'm not in a hurry. I'm letting myself stay in this slower place instead of pushing through it.
If you're feeling that same pull toward quiet and rest, I think it's okay to listen to it. Let this end of winter be a season of restoration. Curl up with a good book, like the woman in Femme Lisant. Spring will come in time, and we'll be ready to embrace it.
